AEROSOL EFFECTS UPON CONVECTIVE COLD POOLS:  ESTABLISHING GENERAL TRENDS

This DOE-ASR award funds the investigation of the possible influence of CCN and ice-nucleating particles (INP) upon precipitation development in deep convective clouds, and thus the cold pools produced by the storms.  It utilizes observations acquired during the Cloud, Aerosol, and Complex Terrain Interactions (CACTI) field campaign that used the DOE-ARM facilities, and high-resolution numerical modeling.

A PSEUDO-GLOBAL-WARMING INVESTIGATION OF CONVECTIVE HAZARDS

In collaboration with Dr. Jeff Trapp, we are investigating how the severe weather events (tornadoes, hailstorms, and derechos) could change under different anthropogenic climate change scenarios, and the underlying mechanisms producing any such changes.
